I look forward to chatting with my daughter about this great story, and listening to it again. just think the narrator pushed it to far (which is on the narrator and not the book/story). I get that she was a teen with a teen attitude. It was easy enough to look past, and listen to the story itself and not the way it was read. I also didn't like how the main character was always portrayed to have an attitude ALL the time. After about 20-30 mins into the book she grew on me and I didn't mind her so much anymore.

First published in 2007, it won the 2007 Agatha Award. I did find the female narrator a bit annoying at first. A Fatal Grace is the second title in Louise Pennys Chief Inspector Armand Gamache cozy mystery series. I really like that even listening to it a 2nd time, Im hearing pieces & details I somehow missed the first time. Every now and then I grab one of her ear buds to see where she is so we can chat about it. She has sense started at the beginning and is loving the book as much as I did. My tween daughter started listening to the story while I was mind way though.

The story is beautiful! Well written, I had a hard time turning it off. As a bitter wind blows into the village, something even more chilling is coming for Gamache himself.I really enjoyed this book. But other dangers are becoming clear to Gamache. For a Quebec winter is not only staggeringly beautiful but deadly, and the people of Three Pines know better than to reveal too much of themselves. With his trademark compassion and courage, Gamache digs beneath the idyllic surface of village life to find the dangerous secrets long buried there. Who could have been insane enough to try such a macabre method of murder-or brilliant enough to succeed? CC de Poitiers was electrocuted in the middle of a frozen lake, in front of the entire village, as she watched the annual curling tournament.
